I've never been a big fan of college football, but of course I have to stand tall for any Texas college who's doing well. So as this football season developed, it became obvious that USC and UT would meet in the Rose Bowl for the national championship.
One of my very best friends (whom I've never met in person, but we'll fix that this year), David Anderson, is a graduate of USC, so we naturally developed a rivalry culminating in a bet over the ultimate National Champion.
And if any single person can be credited with this victory, it's Vince Young, quarterback for the Longhorns. The man was just awesome, throughout the whole game. One example of his contribution is the fact that he scored the winning touchdown by running into the endzone with mere seconds left in the game, and then rushing into the endzone once again for the extra point after that touchdown.
I don't want to diminish the accomplishments of Reggie Bush (at least he's got the right family name, eh, David?), who is a truly awesome football player, but Vince Young's Rose Bowl performance makes one wonder if the Heisman Trophy went to the wrong person this year.
And David, I'm so looking forward to collecting on that bet!
