Okay, let's get right to the point: Only those who are naïve, ignorant or anti-American believe that the United States would best be served by establishing a timetable now for removal of American troops for Iraq.
At this point, you've most likely responded with "You go, Boyd!" or "Another conservative just insulted us again." Sorry, I don't mean to insult any of my readers, but Senator Kennedy's position that we should establish just such a timetable would clearly undermine much of the good that we've accomplished over the past two years.
Do you think we can predict the actions of the terrorists in Iraq? How soon they will be subdued or eliminated? How fast the newly-trained Iraqi National Guard and police forces will be able to exert domestic control under their newly-elected government? If you aren't so foolish to answer any of those questions with a "yes," how can you be so foolish to believe that we can establish a date when we can start removing our military support of that new government?
The Iraqi people have expressed their yearning for democracy. Only the most craven would suggest that we abandon them to whatever fate the terrorists choose to subject them to. Only people like you, Teddy.
These people are going to succeed, and people who believe like me will do what we can to help them along the way. If you choose to join Teddy Kennedy and spout platitudes with your mouth while shunning the Iraqis with your actions, then I consider you to be pond scum.
Teddy Kennedy, you despicable swine, you disgust me. I wish there were a place we could send you, Barbara Boxer and all the other disingenuous bastards who want us to abandon Iraq, so you can inflict your idiocies on each other without harming normal, decent people.
In the interest of fairness, I should point out that Senator Kerry agrees with me. Well, at least about the timeline. I haven't heard how he feels about sending these anti-Americans far, far away.
