Donald Sensing posts a tribute to the optimism and human-ness of the U.S. Servicemember. We don't often think about this wonderful, positive side of our military men and women. I think it's a positive reflection of American culture generally.
I think quite a few foreigners, when confronted with our military "goodwill ambassadors" in trying situations, such as the current Iraqi occupation, are surprised by the innate goodness of our troops. Those who get the opportunity to spend even a brief, casual moment with that Marine patrolling the neighborhood come away with at least an inkling that all those tales about the horrible Americans might be a little off the mark.
I salute our servicemembers who are continuing this tradition.
